Scan to PDF — turn your camera into a document scanner, free and private

Point your phone or webcam at a document and turn it into a clean PDF — auto-cropped, straightened, and enhanced. The whole scan runs in your browser, so the photo you just took never leaves your device.

How to scan a document to PDF

  1. Capture a photo with your camera, or upload one you already took.
  2. Drag the four corners to match the edges of the page.
  3. Choose an enhance mode — color, grayscale, or black & white — to make the text crisp.
  4. Add more pages the same way to build a multi-page document.
  5. Click Download to save the finished PDF. Your photos are never uploaded.

What it does

  • Camera capture or photo upload, from a phone, tablet, or laptop webcam
  • Drag-to-adjust corner detection to straighten and crop each page
  • Color, grayscale, and black & white enhance modes for sharper text
  • Combine multiple scanned pages into a single PDF
  • No watermark, no sign-up, no photo ever uploaded

Common uses

  • Scanning a receipt, ID, or contract with your phone instead of a scanner
  • Turning a whiteboard photo or handwritten note into a shareable PDF
  • Digitizing paperwork for an application or expense report on the go

Is it private?

Yes. Unlike scanning apps such as CamScanner that upload your photos to process them, PaperFit's scanner runs the capture, crop, and enhancement entirely on your own device, in your browser. That matters because a document worth scanning — an ID, a lease, a medical form — is usually one you don't want sitting on someone else's server. Your photos never leave your device: open your browser's network tab and watch, nothing uploads while you scan.

Frequently asked questions

Does it upload my scans?

No. The camera photo, corner adjustment, and enhancement all happen in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.

Do I need to install an app?

No. It works in your regular mobile or desktop browser — no app store, no extension, no software to install.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers on both iPhone and Android, using your device's camera or a photo from your gallery.

Can I scan multiple pages into one PDF?

Yes. Capture or upload as many pages as you need, and they're combined into a single multi-page PDF.

Is it really free?

Yes. Scanning is free with no account, no watermark, and no limit on how many documents you process.

Can it make the scan searchable text (OCR)?

Not yet — today's scan produces a standard image-based PDF. Searchable, selectable text via OCR is planned for a future PaperFit Pro release.
